Red Carpet Theatre Society originated in an Introduction to Theatre course at the University of Ottawa. It started as an assignment for which students had to create a make-believe theatre company and produce a small skit at the end of the year under the creative name of the organization. Students had to organize the company with various components such as a board of directors, crew, etc. This started as the basis of the organization.
Over the following years, the company expanded by hiring official board members and implemented a mandate and a constitution to generate a fully functioning, non-profit organization. Our first show was Like Dreaming, Backwards by Kellie Powell, a dramatic story of mental illness and suicide. After which, we produced THE PROPOSAL by Anton Chekhov in February 2016, and Interior:PANIC by Tennessee William in June 2016.
We are proud of our humble beginnings and look forward to new horizons. We hope to see you on the Red Carpet.
